Trip to India in 2011

We left to India in the 2 Dec 2011, it was a splendid visit. This time I went with my lovely girls and it was even more blissful since they embraced India like the way I wanted them too. Especially Kirti being so expressive makes me feel so blessed in fact she wanted to say with Ranjan (my sister) for 6 more months. The weather was very favorable since it stopped raining since the day we set foot on my homeland until the very last day; it rain the last day for me to experience rain in India.

This visit was only to our village, dad’s land made me think of all the games and fun I had when I was as little as Kirti and Kiran; this time around I told them where I played, the trees I climbed, the fields I ran and grassed cows and buffalos over the school holidays. I remembered and managed to make some toys using the coconut trees leaves and the girls were so excited seeing toys made out of coconut leaves, it was an amazing thing for them.

My father in laws land that was greener and had paddy fields the girls got to play in the water had tender coconut tree they couldn’t contain themselves seeing the coconut plucked from the trees and manicured and given to them to drink J. Slept in on the roof top seeing the stars, I used to tell them about seeing stars and when I experience it with the girls it was wonderful. We had food on the “motta madi”(roof top)  there was no electricity over for a dinner so we brought the food upstairs and it was really fun.

The best of all was staying with my lovely little sister Ranjan, Akshita the princess and of course my brother-in-law Shan he is so sweet and nice. This visit was more meaningful than the previous visits I had a perfect picture with a complete family. I could see the love showered on the girls like the way I used to when ranjan was little, Kirti and ranjan shared the same intimate feelings as I shared with Ranjan; Kirti got so attached to ranjan that she wouldn’t want to come back. Kirti hugged Ranjan while I was carrying Akshita, I had tears as I had no heart to leave the little one; looking at me crying Kirti said “mom u see I too don’t know why but I feel like crying I feel very said to go” looking at her emotions Shan had no choice but to promise Kirti “I promise to visit you and will bring Akshita and Ranjan chiti next year”.

I miss the lovely food I had the weather and sweet smell of my country. The best part was there were many first time experiences for both the girls.

Finally the last day before I got back dad paid us a visit and it was really very touching “I miss him a lot and long to see him soon”.

We got back on 17Dec2011 it’s a sweet memory.

Baby cousin “Akshita”

Kirti and Kiran so excited to go to India, they are so keen in getting all set from their passport to what to wear he they go there (hope the excitement stays when they are there). They are even the more excited to see baby Akshita (Ranjan’s daughter).

We were driving back from after sending Kirti’s teacher home, on the way back Kirti said “I want to see Ranjini akka” all I could do is laugh and told her “she is you chiti”. Kiran quickly said “I want to see baby cousin” I was so glad by the way she called her “Baby cousin” after a couple of conversation I figured out that she finds it hard to pronounce “Akshita” and that is why she says baby cousin which is quite though but Kirti did her best teaching Kiran on getting the name but somehow both seem to refer her to “Baby cousin.

Mom's Birthday

It was so sweet and thoughtful of Kirti to make a card for mommy. She roped her father and Kiran into this plan since she wanted to use scissors & glue that I don’t allow her to access. I was watching TV after the normal routine whilst Kirti and Kiran were busy in their study doing some activities or reading.

The next morning when I woke up got ready to go to office and the girls got ready to school the usual routine. The moment they saw me they ran into the study room and got the card; both held it to me and said “happy birthday mommy” I was so overwhelmed and the card was fabulous.

I am so thankful for being blessed with Kirti and Kiran my lovely little girls always manage to fill the void of my mom’s presence.

Meaning of “Boy Friend”

It was in the evening when Then called me for tea to her house and while the girls and me took a walk to her house I saw my neighbor washing his car. I wished him “selamat hari raya” (Eid Mubarak) he said thanks, I asked him a few more question and the conversation hadn’t lasted a minute. I walk past him and Kirti asked me “Amma, is he your boy friend???” my neighbor would have heard her was so embarrassed to turn to say sorry. I said “No, he is our neighbor” and Kirti didn’t stop there she asked me “Do you have a boy friend???”. I said no and she asked me again “Tell me the truth… do you have a boy friend”. I wanted to be smart so I said “I do and his name is Thiru” for which she said “No mom he is your husband not your boy friend” I laughed and said “Ok enough of this boy friend stuff”. Kirti made a sad face and said “I don’t have a boy friend??? When will I get one amma”, I told her “You grow big, study get a job for yourself and the rest will be taken care by GOD as how it happen to amma”. Although Kirti was not happy with my answer she said ok and suddenly I heard Kiran say “I don’t have boy friend I only have girl friend and she has a long hair” hahahah all the three of us laughed.

Independence day.

“Today is amma’s country’s independence day”, Kirti replies “Really….” that is all she could say with a surprised look on her face. After a little bit of running around she came back to me today “Oh you’re right you’re from India and I am Malaysia” I felt weird although she is my blood but she has no feeling towards my country as I do it was hard to accept that feeling though. I decided to do a small run-through about India with Kirti and Kiran, I am sure Kirti will understand but not sure of Kiran feeling and understanding capabilities. I wanted to do a small presentation for them to know about India and our independence and was not sure why I was feeling so happy about it.

That evening I managed to prepare a quick presentation (attaching some of the slides) and was very excited to share it with them; after seeing the entire presentation of 16 slides Kirti asked me so many questions, Kiran was excited to see the colors in the slides. After the entire presentation Kirti said “I like the peacock, tiger and lotus”, “why is the tata called father of India” and even memorized the colors in the flag and was asking me about the presentation even after sometime, I was glad that I could retain her attention until the end and was happy to see her interested. The best part is she asked me “amma will you please help me prepare one for my country too” and I said I will help her with it and she hugged me and said “yeeahhhh I am going to make a presentation for merdeka”

Kiran First day at Kindergarten

Kiran all excided to go to school. Sunday night she said “I am going to akka’s school tomorrow” ; got her school bag, water bottle, napkin, book and pencil box all set up. She was so happy to put the bag next to Kirti’s school bag and said “I also going to school.... right mommy”. Although her excitement in the morning was not as much as Kirti’s first day but she caught up with it as she got herself dressed to school. Hung her school bag and wore her shoes and was ready to leave. Had to make them sit and wait for aunty Jane (transporter) to come before they stepped out. Thiru and me were leaving for office and both of us kept reminding Kirti “Please take care of Kiran, she is your baby sister”. Kirti was so responsible to say “Don’t worry mom I will take care, she looks so cute in her uniform” . Kirti said to Kiran “Kiran you will be sitting in another class and akka will be in a different class don’t worry I will see you during break...” hahahah

Around 9:30am Thiru called me and asked me to check on Kiran (as always had soft corner for her and has a excuse that she is small) I called the Ms. Rose (principle) she told me “Kiran is sitting in 4years old group. She did some writing and is doing coloring now. She is doing good nothing to worry”.

After I got back home from office, Kiran was watching TV and even before I asked her about her kindy experience she enthusiastically said “it was fun at school, I got a lot of friends”. Kirti filled in some details as to who taught in her class and she went to watch her during the break. All that I kept telling the girls was be nice to each other and always stand up for each other, after all the mommy talk never fades.

Its been 3 days now and the excitement is there in Kiran hoping it lasts for ever.

Kirti and Kiran with their bike

Both the girls visited their aunt’ at Rawang and were so excited about their visit, were planning for this visit for quite some time and finally the day came. We went there after we visited Kirti’s school. They had a wonderful birthday gifts from their aunt and cousins “Bicycles” they were so excited. When we went to pick them up on Sunday Kiran was riding the bike and came shouting “Mom, Arul athai bought me a bicycle, I love it.......... u see

u see, nice right!!!”

Kirti was excited to but guess she was exhausted after the nonstop riding the entire day so didn’t have anything exciting to say she said “Mine is here, pink color and has green bell”. When we reached home it was around 7:30pm and they started to ride the bike and I had to feed him dinner while they were happily riding. God has been so nice to bless my girls with lovely aunty and cousins. God bless them all,

Kirti and her tooth fairy story

Kirti is 6 year now and since the day her tooth started to shake she was excited and was waiting for the tooth to fall. She has a lovely belief and this is if her tooth falls she will go to sleep with it under the pillow and wooooshhhhhh the tooth fairy will appear to give her a MAGIC WAND. Kirti will then change her grandparents, Thiru & me into king and queen and change Kiran and herself into princesses.

This story is been in the air for the past 3 weeks and the day came…. Her tooth fell, she was so excited with it and put that in her pencil box couldn't contain herself with it and kept opening the pencil box looking for it so often that she dropped it somewhere, none of us could find it. She was so upset and unhappy, all that I told her was “you have so many teeth that are due to fall in a few years time and she can reserve her wish for those fall” she was satisfied with the answer. Although she will be disappointed if she had kept the tooth I still could not break her heart and managed with it this time hope to do it as long as I could.

The girls are grown up.

Kiran is growing fast she makes proper sentence now that takes me by surprise every other day, her statements like “this is unfair”, “get off my way”, “I am very tired”, “can I come with you”, “do you love me”, the best of all is “it’s not me its akka”.

Kirti and Kiran both get along well, Kiran finds it hard if Kirti is not around and whenever Kirti is summoned for wrong doings Kiran would say “please don’t beat akka… maaa” it’s the same with Kirti. No matter how she has grown up she still has has not given up on her bolster, everywhere she goes we need to make sure that is one of the item in our check list. Hahaha

Kirti and Kiran in their traditional “pattu pavadai” they all decked up for prayers.
